Transforming a Derelict Site Into an Inclusive Community
Wellcare Construction has successfully delivered the award‑nominated Dinas Lane housing development in Page Moss, transforming a long‑derelict industrial site into 20 high‑quality affordable homes for Prima Housing Group.
As the main contractor, Wellcare played a central role in bringing the architect‑led scheme to life, constructing two bespoke apartment blocks that include fully wheelchair‑accessible homes, nine supported living apartments for adults with mental health needs, and a dedicated on‑site support hub.
Despite a mid‑project redesign requested by Knowsley Council, Wellcare adapted the build efficiently and collaboratively, ensuring continuity, quality and value for money throughout.

Delivering Social and Economic Value
The project has delivered significant social and economic value to Knowsley. Fifty per cent of tradespeople were local residents, six apprentices were supported, and 70% of the supply chain was sourced from local businesses.
The development also incorporates extensive landscaping, energy‑efficient construction, EV charging points and smart heating technology to reduce residents' running costs.
A New Benchmark for Inclusive Housing
With a total investment of £3.6 million, the scheme sets a new benchmark for inclusive, sustainable housing in the borough. Its win for Housing Development of the Year 2025 reflects Wellcare's commitment to quality craftsmanship, community benefit and responsible, place‑focused construction.
